Mission Outreach of Westminster Presbyterian Church

As Christians, we are charged by Christ to reach out in service to both our church family and to the community at large. Westminster Presbyterian Church offers the opportunity to worship God through service to others.

Among the community services sponsored by Westminster Presbyterian Church are:

The Mission Bells Food Pantry - This community food pantry is located at our church. It is a joint venture of volunteers from WPC and other churches in the Mission Bend area. Volunteers collect food contributions from the Red Barrels in local grocery stores, school food drives and other sources of contributions. They also help sort foods, stock them in the pantry, prepare a standard package for distribution and meet with recipients at the church during designated hours.

Scouting - WPC holds charters for a Boy Scout troop within the Mission Bend community. This troop includes the children of both non-members and members of WPC.

Blood Drives - WPC members donate blood to the Methodist Hospital. These contributions provide credits for WPC members, or whomever the donor designates, in the event that they need blood during the coming year.

Annual School Supply Drive - At the start of each school year, WPC sponsors a School Supply Drive to collect donations for distribution to those local Fort Bend and Alief elementary schools where we have identified the greatest need for assistance.

Annual Christmas Food Drive - the Annual Christmas Food Drive is a special program that works with the local schools to identify needy families for help. Members of WPC and the community donate store sponsored Turkey credits and other food contributions. These contributions are sorted and bagged to meet the particular needs of the identified families.  The food is distributed during the week before Christmas.

The Christmas Giving Tree- WPC works with the Fort Bend Women's Shelter to identify the Christmas gift needs for the children of the families at the shelter. These items are listed on tags attached to a Christmas Tree which WPC members select for fulfilment. These purchased items are brought to the church and then delivered to the Fort Bend Women's Shelter the week before Christmas.

You are invited to join Westminster Presbyterian Church in our worship of God and in service to our community. We hold Inquirer's Classes to enable prospective members an opportunity for fellowship with others as they learn more about WPC and its mission to our community.
