Worship
at
Westminster Presbyterian Church
| Worship is the
centerpiece of our life as a community of faith. It
is where we join others as the people of God. We gather
to worship the one who gives meaning to who we are and
direction to where we are headed. In worship we are
fed by him who is the bread of life. It is where we
are nourished to go out and serve him who is the head of
the church, Jesus Christ. * * * Worship Services Westminster Presbyterian Church holds its regular worship service at 10:15 every Sunday morning. We would very much like to have you join us. Child care is provided. It's safe to come early... Coffee is usually perking in the kitchen, or you can enter the sanctuary early to relax and prepare for worship. Better still, arrive by 9:00 and we can direct you and your family members to the right Sunday School classes! In addition to the regular worship services, Westminster provides many other opportunities for worship. Special services are normally held on Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Christmas Eve, and Christmas morning. Some years we will hold a Seder at Passover to deepen our understanding of the ritual and symbolism of our Lord's Last Supper and a special Thanksgiving service.. We actively look for ways to include all members of the church family in worship. We have an annual Youth Sunday and Women's Service. During these special services, all of the roles are filled by members from these groups. Each Sunday morning service includes a Children's Time, which is a mini-sermon for children 5th grade and younger. The theme of the Children's Time is usually related to the sermon for the day; however the message is kept simple and is highlighted with a variety of visual aids. It is truly a joy to see our children's faces light up during these Children's Times.
The Music Program Music is an important part of worship, both to praise our Lord and to encourage the congregation. Special music is provided by the Chancel Choir on a regular basis. On occasion special music is provided by the Handbell Choir, the youth of the church, the children or by member families from other countries. Do you enjoy singing or playing a musical instrument? Then a spot is awaiting you at WPC! Our Chancel Choir can give you an opportunity to offer your musical talents to enrich our worship service and to glorify God. We also utilize other talents in the congregation by incorporating any and all instruments in our music. If you play an instrument, traditional or non-traditional, we have a special group that is waiting for you. It is a very moving experience just to listen to flute, clarinet, or string accompaniment to one of our traditional or modern hymns. And the ringing beauty of hand bells gives us a glimpse of how beautiful heaven must be! Whatever your talent, an opportunity to participate is waiting for you at Westminster. |
